Stay NJ Program: Who Qualifies & How to Apply

Stay NJ is New Jersey's newest property tax relief program for older homeowners. Here's what it is and whether you may qualify.

What is Stay NJ?

Stay NJ is designed to help homeowners age 65 and older stay in their homes by reimbursing a portion of their property taxes, up to a maximum of $6,500.

Who qualifies?

• You are 65 or older
• You own and live in your New Jersey home as your main residence
• Household income is under $500,000

How does it work with ANCHOR and Senior Freeze?

Stay NJ works alongside the ANCHOR and Senior Freeze programs, and benefits from the other programs are factored in. Many seniors qualify for more than one, which is why it helps to see them side by side.

How to apply

New Jersey uses a combined application for the senior programs. Check the NJ Division of Taxation for this year's filing deadline.
